• Grammy award Trumpeter Randy Brecker will be performing with Co-op Bop @ the Sellersville Theatre
Friday Feb. 19, 2010.
That same morning he will also act as guest rehearsal director for the Moravian College “Fusion” ens. (of which A. Gaumer is the faculty director.)in anticipation he will introduce several R. Brecker compositions in an effort to prepare for his arrival. The goal being for Randy to offer insights , etc. to ultimately prepare for their upcoming spring recital.

• AG & Randy Brecker will also perform @ the Deerhead Inn Sat. Feb. 20,2010.
• THE STORY: In September of 1980 Alan Gaumer was on tour in South America with the U.S. Navy Show Band. On a particular eve he played a reception as leader of the quartet at the US ambassador to Argentina’s residence. As the night was coming to a close Alan was approached by the Ambassadors secretary. She asked if Alan and the rest of the trio would be interested in going to a jazz club? Aside from the fact that it was already 1:00 a.m., a resounding yes was agreed to. First they were assured that the late hour was of no consequence and second they even had time to change out of their tuxes. Within a short time they arrived at Jazz y Pops and were immediately treated to some great sounds compliments of local trumpet Fats Gonzalez.. In short order Fats came off stage and noticing that AG had a horn over his shoulder and that he was an “Norte” Americano, asked “would you like to sit in”?. “ABSOLUTELY” ok, so…. After playing a couple, to great audience response, they took a break. Fats then asked, “do you know Randy Brecker?” Alan replied, “I know who he is but, I don’t know him personally” Well, “he’s down at the end of the bar.” Well, the rest as they say, is history because in short order they were introduced and ended up playing together into the wee hoyrs and of course they’ve managed to do it a few times over the last 30 years. Catch on or both of these dates. They are gonna burn. . . . . . . . .
